GETECH Group plc is a leading petroleum and minerals consultancy. It provides Services, Data, and Studies to assist its clients to make informed and efficient exploration decisions.
The client base comprises all the major and many smaller oil companies, as well as a number of major mining companies.
The Company is based in Leeds, England, where it has grown to more than 40 staff, of whom in excess of 35 are technical, having specialist skills covering a wide range of geoscience disciplines. It also has a subsidiary in Houston, Texas which operates primarily as a marketing entity. The Company originated as a spin-out from the University of Leeds, and since it started trading in 1986 has acquired the largest commercially available library of global gravity and magnetic data – it currently has data from almost every country in the world.
In September 2005 the Company floated on the AIM market. Unusually for AIM listed companies, it has been consistently profitable and has paid significant dividends each year since flotation.
In 2004 it established the Petroleum Systems Group. Since then it has built an enviable reputation based on a multidisciplinary team which has grown from 2 in 2004, to almost 20 in early 2008. The petroleum systems studies incorporate a very broad range of skills including geophysics, structural analysis, geochemistry, petroleum geology, and GIS. The existing geophysics capabilities combined with the unparalleled datasets enable it to provide very comprehensive studies to its clients.
The Company maintains its technical quality and reputation through the quality and reputations of its staff, continuing innovation, and also performs proprietary research projects when asked by its clients.
