Dr Melise Harland joins GETECH
GETECH is pleased to welcome Dr Melise Harland, who has joined the company to work with Dr Paul Markwick on expanding GETECH’s palaeoclimatological capability, especially the role of climate and vegetation on weathering, erosion and sediment transport.
Melise received her BSc (Hons) in Geological Sciences from the University of Leeds in 2001, before spending a year working for the “Turbidites Research Group” and “Rock Deformation Research” (RDR). She then pursued a PhD (2006) on the “composition, leaf life-span and climate significance of Cretaceous polar conifer forests” with Professor Jane Francis and Professor David Beerling (University of Sheffield). David is a world renowned expert on vegetation modelling and Melise’s research utilized these techniques to better investigate the palaeobotanical and palaeoclimatic evolution of the high latitudes.
Melise then spent two years working with CASP, in Cambridge, as a geologist on CASPs “Palaeozoic Margin of Baltica” and “Evolution of Siberia” projects, which included fieldwork in the Russian Arctic, where Melise brought to bear her sedimentological experience.
Geodynamics and Petroleum Geology of the South Atlantic Margins
GETECH is pleased to announce that we have recently completed the Geodynamics and Petroleum Geology of the South Atlantic Margins Study. Ten man-years of effort has gone into this major new study which looks at the influence of regional tectonic events on the landscape evolution and petroleum geology of the conjugate margins of the South Atlantic.
To download a brochure visit our Geodynamics and Petroleum Geology of the South Atlantic Margins Page.

Petroleum Systems of Southern Indochina Study complete
GETECH is pleased to announce the release of its latest non-exclusive petroleum systems study for the Indochina region.
The new Petroleum Systems of Southern Indochina Study builds on the success of our studies for Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand Basins and Offshore East Vietnam to examine the Nam Con Song, Cuu Long and Tonle Sap Basins. As with our pervious studies we build on GETECH's unique global gravity and magnetic data to underpin a re-evaluation of the structural development of the Indochinese Peninsula and implications for the tectonic development of the region. This forms the basis for the mapping of seven critical palaeogeographic and palaeolandscape timeslice reconstructions. Aided by an analysis of the modern day drainage, the study then reviews the landscape evolution and likely effects on sediment dispersal. It also contains a review of the geochemical literature and new geochemical modelling. All these have been used to generate new insights into the petroleum systems of Southern Indochina region.
For more information on this or any of our other petroleum systems studies please contact GETECH: Contact GETECH
GETECH is currently working on similar studies for Onshore Thailand and Offshore Southeastern China. We are also seeking sponsors for a new style of study: Structure and Tectonics of Southeast Asia.
