Tanzania Digital Magnetic and Gamma-ray Spectrometer Data

Africa

The Ministry of Energy and Minerals, United Republic of Tanzania (MADINI) and GETECH (UK) announce the official commercial release of the aeromagnetic and gamma-ray spectrometer data acquired by Geosurvey between 1977 and 1980.

An example of the data coverage over the Archean Greenstone Goldbelt south of Lake Victoria is shown below where GETECH and Paterson, Grant and Watson Limited (PGW), Toronto are collaborating to provide the digital data products. The area includes:

  • Area A - 1 km spaced digital flightline profile data
  • Area B - digitised data from 1:100,000 scale contour maps
  • Area C - Mwadui - 250 m spaced lines digital flightline profile data
  • Area D - Kabanga - 250 m spaced lines digital flightline profile data
Tanzania Data

The map shows the coverage of:

  • Entire country
  • Flight Line Spacing: 1 km (250 m over Mwadui and other restricted areas), Mostly flown E-W (Mwadui flown N-S)
  • Flight Elevation: 120 m (400 ft)
  • Parameters: total magnetic field, gamma rays (total count, K, U and Th as cps)
  • Deliverables: digital flight line data, digital grids, processing report
  • All other aeromagnetic and gamma-ray surveys now owned by MADINI are also available for license
  • Licensing:
  • A. Sponsorship of entire project
  • B. Part sponsorship (50% of total area)
  • C. Individual 1 x 1 degree blocks
  • Interpretation Study: non-exclusive Archean Greenstone Goldbelt study available for sponsorship
