Iraq Gravity and Magnetic Data
With the approval of the State Company of Geological Survey and Mining, (GEOSURV) in Iraq, we are delighted to be able to offer to oil and mining companies the opportunity to license the unique gravity and magnetic data archive of the country.
These valuable data come, from a number of separate sources and surveys, have been checked, computerised and re-processed by GETECH to create continuous countrywide datasets.
Gravity Data
Right: Gravity station distribution – white dots
Products:• Over 120,000 stations, collected between 1960 and 1990.
• Full principal facts for over 90% of the stations, otherwise Bouguer anomaly and elevation only
• All station locations
• 2km grids of Bouguer anomaly, elevation and isostatic residual gravity
• Suite of ArcGIS images and shape files
• Short processing report
Aeromagnetic Data
Right: Aeromagnetic flight line location map
• Collected by CGG between Nov 1973 – Oct 1974.• Blocks M,O, P, Q, R, (north-eastern half of the survey area) were flown at constant barometric altitude of 400m
• All remaining Blocks were flown at a constant ground clearance of 135m
• Flight line spacing: majority of data is in 2km line spacing and the rest is in 5km
• Total line kms: 184,749
• Over 98% of the profile data was recovered from the original tapes. The remaining 2% was digitised by GETECH along flight line/contour intercepts from 1: 100,000 scale contour maps with contour interval 0.5 nT. The two datasets were re-processed and re-levelled and merged by GETECH
Products:
• Total magnetic field profile data
• 500m grids of total magnetic field and reduced-to-pole
• Flight line locations and profile data
• Suite of ArcGIS images and shape files
• Short processing report
Geology of Iraq
Summary:
In 2006, Dr. Saad Jassim and Jeremy Goff compiled the most comprehensive book available on the geology of Iraq. Now, for the first time and with the exclusive permission of both Dr. Jassim and the publishers (Dolin, Czech Republic), GETECH is offering a complementary digital ArcGIS version, containing many of the illustrations as georeferenced images and vector shapefiles.
